How Wi-Fi Can Help Your Business Succeed

When you go to a café, do you ever attempt to use your phone to check your email? If so, you need some sort of a broadband connection to use Wi-Fi on your phone. If you are a business owner, you should make it possible for patrons to use your Internet connection to access the Internet on their phones or mobile devices. Offering free Wi-Fi can have a huge impact on business because people are always looking for an Internet connection that they don’t have to pay for.

Don’t Phones Come With Their Own Internet Capabilities?

Yes, most mobile devices come with their own network. The problem with accessing that network is that it can cost a lot of money. Most data plans only allow customers to use the Internet on their phones for short periods of time each day. However, you don’t need to use your own data plan if you have an Internet connection present wherever you happen to be. When this happens, it is just like using the Internet on your own computer.  You have to consider as well that some mobile devices can only connect to the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection.

How Does Wi-Fi Impact The Profitability Of A Business?

Say you were the owner of a sports bar that showed football on Sunday afternoons. A majority of sports fans play fantasy football and enjoy talking to their friends about the games on their phones and tablets. If your bar offered free Wi-Fi, patrons could check their fantasy football stats as well as chat with friends all day long. This provides your customers with an incentive to go to your bar as opposed to a competing bar that may not offer Wi-Fi. It simply offers your customers a layer of convenience that they may not otherwise find.

How Much Does It Cost To Obtain An Internet Connection?

The good news is that your establishment can get a series of routers and a high speed Internet connection without spending a lot of money. For the $30 or $40 a month that a company will spend on Internet, it can increase sales by several times that amount. The extra profit generated by offering Wi-Fi  is certainly worth the cost.  If your company cannot afford to give away Internet access for free, most of your customers would be willing to pay a small fee for access. Even if you lose a little bit of money, the goodwill generated by such a move will eventually pay off in more sales as you grow your customer base.

Any business owner would be wise to offer Wi-Fi in their shop or establishment. It will be another way to offer better customer service to those who spend money on your products or services. While you are certainly not obligated to do so, it is generally a move that does not eat away at your profit margins. When customers are happy, they will spend more money on your goods and services.
